Fergie's Funky Techno Mix is coming out on Mixmag Records
Big, ballsy techno
The next release coming from Mixmag Records is Fergie's Funky Techno Mix.
Packed with some of the biggest tracks from the techno rennaisance of the time, Fergie’s Funky Techno mix was a snapshot of a moment just before the minimal explosion, when names like Marco Bailey, Phil Kieran, Justin Robertson and Jon Carter were pioneering a big, ballsy techno sound. It was a genre that, as Mixmag stated, ‘was getting the girls back on to techno dancefloors and spreading the message beyond the purist techno clubs’.
Fergie’s weekly Radio One show was doing the same, putting the foundations in place for today’s dance music reality where techno nights like Music On, Circo Loco and Coccoon dominate Ibiza and the genre’s biggest stars headline festivals all over the world.
Most importantly though, this is a mix that’s shot through with Fergie’s mischievious yet committed character as a DJ and person; which means it’s eminently danceable, fiercely fun and, 13 years on, still a hell of a way to kick off a Summer of partying.
