Fundraiser launched to save Middlesbrough venue Disgraceland
The music and arts space has been at the "beating heart of Middlesbrough's club scene" for over a decade
Middlesbrough's Disgraceland has launched a fundraiser appealing for “urgent” help to secure its future.
The beloved venue has been described as the "beating heart of Middlesbrough's club scene" through its support of the local arts community — having hosted weekly open-deck nights and artist competitions for over a decade.
"Right now, though, we’re in a financial hole big enough potentially to bury us," a description on Disgraceland's GoFundMe page reads.
"Every avenue to resolve this has been maxed out except one area where funding is available; however, this is a lengthy process, and we’re at a point now where help is needed very urgently.“

As part of the campaign, Middlesbrough-based label and promoter Industrial Coast will host an event at Disgraceland on November 7, featuring performances by Rainy Miller, Dualist, Lenacha, and more.
All proceeds from the event will go directly to help save the Baker Street venue, which Industrial Coast describes as being a “key component” in its success.
Originally founded by Jane Jorgensen in 1996 as a vintage clothing store, despite Jorgensen shutting up shop in 2006, a council-approved urban regeneration project helped her relaunch the venue on Baker Street in 2012.

“For years, Disgraceland has been providing space for outsider art in Middlesbrough. From spoken word to techno, and opening its doors to create a welcoming space to those who often feel excluded elsewhere,” says Industrial Coast founder Steve Kirby.
“Disgraceland is a very, very special place. And in 'Boro, we are very fortunate it's 'ours',” he continues.
The Save Disgraceland fundraising event will take place at Disgraceland from 7:PM-2:AM on November 7. You can purchase tickets to the event here. You can also donate directly to Disgraceland's fundraiser here.
