Mexico City’s Yu Yu Cine Club to reopen over a year after its closure
The club closed last summer, citing “the adversities” that come with running a nightlife business
Mexico City nightclub Yu Yu Cine Club has announced that it will reopen in September, a year after it was shuttered.
In July 2024, Yu Yu revealed it would close its doors for good, citing “the adversities” that come with running a nightlife business.
Now, after a “brief hiatus”, the team behind the venue have shared plans to relaunch in a new location — reportedly a former casino in CDMX, reimagined as a cutting-edge new club space.

“We know it's been a while since we last saw each other,” Yu Yu wrote on Instagram yesterday (July 30). “After nearly eight years, Yu Yu closed its doors to take a brief respite.”
“In 2025 we’re ready to return to a new space, with a new team, but with the same community that has been with us all this time: you,” they wrote.
According to a press release, the venue will call in “the next chapter” with new collaborations between artists and promoters, many of whom “helped to define Yu Yu’s legacy”, including Paurro, DJ Tennis, Nicola Cruz, and more.

While the new club location has yet to be revealed, Yu Yu announced that it will return on Friday, September 5, with Laurel Halo, Loris, and Seagit Arc.
Following line-ups throughout September include the likes of Daniel Avery, Marie Davidson, HAAi, DVS1, and more, with a special guest billed to play on September 19.
The new space will feature a “spacious” cinema room for screenings, as well as an integrated bar. “See you in September,” Yu Yu said alongside the line-up flyer. “Location to be announced in the next few days. Stay tuned!”
