With the fifth release on Kneaded Pains, versatile producers Melody’s Enemy serve up a three track EP dubbed ‘Need to Know’ as the label heads Dense & Pika’s take on the title track with a gritty remix.

When producing the original material, the main focus for the duo from South London was “to make everything louder than everything else”, and they greatly succeeded as the EP consists of driving techno cuts filled with peak time flair.

Approaching the remix however, was a different story for Dense & Pika: “It was a tricky remix for us actually because the original tracks are so big and ravey sounding. We didn't want to try and compete with the full on ravey aesthetic so we stripped things back and made a dubbier version to give the record a bit of variety.”

Tapping Melody’s Enemy for a release on Kneaded Pains was a natural selection for Dense & Pika, as they were attracted to their unconventional approach: “Melodies Enemy have been very established drum & bass producers for over a decade. This gives them a slightly different view on techno. With Kneaded Pains we are always looking for exciting new projects that are a bit different and they fit the bill perfectly.”

Listen to ‘Need to Know (Dense & Pika Remix)’ below and pick up the full EP when it’s released October 3.
