Mayan Warrior brings its famed Burning Man art car to The Brooklyn Mirage
The art car's East Coast debut
Famous Mexican art car known as Mayan Warrior will take over The Brooklyn Mirage on Saturday, June 9 as it makes an appearance on the East Coast for the very first time since its creation.
The day through night event will be soundtracked by the crew's favorite as yet to be announced special guests. All proceeds for the event will go towards funding the art car’s journey from Mexico City to Burning Man this August.
First debuting at Burning Man in 2011, Mayan Warrior has been a fixture at the gathering. The unique design is inspired by Mayan and Huichol art with a touch of modern tech and is a product of a new generation of Mexican artists led by founder Pablo Gonzalez Vargas. The crew involved in the project include a collective of artists, craftsmen, photographers, designers, technologists and architects from Mexico City and northern California. Plus musicians like Concret, Dramian, Mandrake and Rebolledo have helped to establish its reputation for delivering an immersive experience.
Mayan Warrior is powered by 70,000 watts of electricity to deliver explosive production including a cutting edge RGB laser light show, psychedelic neon panels and a sophisticated new sound system comprised of 24 d&b subs and two full range line array speakers totaling 20 on the car
The upcoming event sees Mayan Warrior linking with Reynard Productions, the crew behind The Cityfox Experience, to create a unique sensory experience for New York City revelers.
Earlier this year, the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. announced a new Burning Man exhibit that will showcase several art pieces, including Duane Flatmo's Tin Pan Dragon, Richard Wilks' Evotrope and Shrumen Lumen from FoldHaus, the aptly-titled glowing mushroom display that responds to human interaction.
