American DJ and producer i_o has died aged 30.

A post announcing the death of the artist hailing from Virginia, real name Garrett Falls Lockhart, was posted on his social media accounts yesterday evening. A cause of death has not yet been announced.

The post says: “This extremely talented spirit taught us that even if nothing matters, you can still lead with love.

“Garrett’s truth and soul lives on through the music he shared. Rest in Peace, Garrett. We love you.”

Also releasing music under his birth name and as Fawks, he put out his debut track as i_o on a Mau5trap compilation in 2017.

Since then he released a number of full EPs on Mau5trap and also put out music on Bite This! and InHarmony.

Last year he collaborated with Grime on the track ‘Violence’, which was included on her 2020 album ‘Miss Anthropocene’.

Earlier this year he performed in The Lab LA. In August he signed to Armada Music, releasing ‘In My Head’ in September and ‘Castles In The Sky’ last week, November 20. He had also started his own imprint Label 444 for his darker productions, and helmed the ACID RAVE parties.
