Massive Attack are set to perform a show in support of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon this November during their appearance at the COP30 International Climate Change Summit in Brazil.

The Bristol band will play an “exclusive show” on November 13 at the Espaço Unimed arena in São Paulo, alongside Brazilian artists CAVALERA – aka Max and Iggor Cavalera – who also co-founded legendary metal band Sepultura.

The one-off performance hopes to “support, platform and give full voice to the efforts of the indigenous people of Brazil”, as well as those of the Amazon G9, the indigenous organisations from nine Amazonian countries.

“We’re honoured to collaborate with Iggor & Max in support of the extraordinary integrity and vital role of the indigenous people of Brazil and the wider Amazon region,” says Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja.

“This is more than a passing of the mic. It’s an opportunity to listen to the knowledge, moral authority and wisdom of the indigenous alliances and help ensure they are heard in the negotiation rooms of COP30.”

Both Massive Attack and CAVALERA will perform the famed 1993 album from Sepultura, ‘Chaos A.D.’, in full, while the event will be “specifically designed” with the help of indigenous groups.

The show also promises to support the “urgent demands” of the indigenous peoples, aiming to achieve climate justice and give recognition of protected lands.

Speaking on the show, Max & Iggor Cavalera explain: "In times when polarisation is so present, when people feel divided and distracted, we are honoured to join forces with Massive Attack and the indigenous peoples of Brazil and the Amazon to weave a narrative of positivity and change.”
