Manchester's The White Hotel confirms it will close in January 2027
Co-founders Austin Collings and Ben Ward cited Salford flood risks as the reason behind the legendary club's closure
Manchester's The White Hotel will close in January 2027, its co-founders Austin Collings and Ben Ward have confirmed.
In an interview published by The Guardian today (May 27), Collings and Ward cited the Salford City Council’s Strategic Regeneration Framework, which places the former car garage on Dickinson Street in a flood-risk zone. "Basically, it's a swamp," Ward told the publication.

Having officially opened on New Year's Eve in 2015, The White Hotel has become one of the UK's most cherished underground nightclubs, hosting the likes of Jamie xx, SHERELLE and Helena Hauff in its nearly 12-year tenure.
In their interview, Collings and Ward shared their relief that they would be able to “go out on our own terms, long before we became a museum”, insisting it is a “surprise” that The White Hotel “has lasted this long anyway.”

The pair also discussed how they have always operated the venue within a “minimum budget, maximum ideas” ethos, having realised the venue had become popular when the 300-capacity space was "overwhelmed" during an appearance from DJ Stingray 313.
