Manchester's BOOT2BOOT returns for sophomore event

Manchester-based BOOT2BOOT held its sophomore event last week, raising over £1500 for charity.

With its intention to bring together promoters, venues, radio stations and collectives from Manchester through the means of football, the day-long competition featured a total of 24 teams including Warehouse Project, Hidden, YES, The DBA (who hosted the subsequent afterparty, presentation and charity raffle), Stage & Radio, Reform Radio and more.

You can see all of those involved here, and - spoiler alert - this competition's winnders were Left, Right and Centre.

BOOT2BOOT was established in 2023, intending to bring together the city's vibrant music community outside of the venues in which they usually operate in effort to move, be active and strengthen community bonds.

It also intends to promote football to those who usually wouldn't engage in the sport - with the competition welcoming and featuring all genders - whilst simultaneously raising money for charity. On this occasion, a total of £1645.72 was raised for The Christie Charity and Manchester People First.

'To be able to bring together over 300 people who usually reside, work and engage within indoor music spaces to an outdoor space on a Sunday engaging and taking part in an event that supports local charities and champions togetherness through sport and music is something really special," event organiser Connor Cooper tells Mixmag. "We feel lucky to have such an amazing community of individuals and groups that rally together to make that happen. Manchester is a city that has a fine history with music, sport and community BOOT2BOOT tries to embody that history and bring it into the present."
