Man hospitalised after stabbing at 400-person illegal rave in Cambridgeshire
An investigation into the incident has been opened by police
A man was hospitalised over the weekend after being stabbed at a 400-strong illegal rave in Cambridgeshire, police have confirmed.
Police were called to Dry Drayton Hill, which sits between Dry Drayton and Madingley, in the early hours of Sunday, June 28, following calls stating that a man had been assaulted.
A man in his 20s was found to have suffered injuries consistent with those of stab wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening, paramedics confirmed.
Around 400 people were said to be in attendance at the "field rave". In a statement, Policing South Cambridgeshire said that two men were "quickly located and arrested" in connection with the attack.
"A scene is in place and will remain for most of the day, with an increased police presence in the area," they said at 7:AM on Sunday following the incident. Both men have now been released on bail.
"Anyone with any information is urged to report this to police online quoting incident number 115 of today, or call 101 if you do not have internet access," they added.
In March, another 400-strong illegal rave took place in Cambridgeshire, which was ultimately called off by local police after patrolling officers discovered an industrial site filled with people.
Police cut the power to the unit in St Ives, close to Huntingdon, and seized sound equipment – a multi-storey soundsystem rigged up inside – before boarding up the premises to stop re-entry.
Three people were arrested on the scene, including a 22-year-old who was alleged to have organised the event, as well as an 18-year-old and a 26-year-old, both on suspicion of violent disorder and drug possession.
