Maitreya organisers announce plans to return

Many ticket holders claim the failed Australian festival still owes them money

Organisers of Australia's failed Maitreya festival have announced plans to return.

The latest Facebook post follows one in September stating the event might never take place again after it was cancelled one day out earlier this year.

"The Labour Day long weekend in March, Victoria, has suddenly become a little overcrowded in the glittery wake of Notreya earlier this year," the new post reads. "As it has been a tradition of ours to dance on that weekend since the very beginning of time, even before the clocks, we feel we must dance again."

The festival failed to get a permit from the local Buloke Shire Council for its planned ten year anniversary event at Wooroonook Lakes outside Charlton this year, but organisers insisted it would go ahead until the very last moment when they cited bad weather.

Many ticket holders claim they are still yet to receive a refund.

Newcomers Pitch, Babylon and Esoteric festivals have been announced for the same weekend next year, which is also when Golden Plains festival takes place in the state of Victoria.

Esoteric festival seems to have had more luck with the same council, however, posting to Facebook they had received a permit from Buloke Shire for their event.
