Madame Tussauds New York unveil “realistic” Daft Punk waxworks

Daft Punk have been immortalised with a new set of waxwork figures, on display now at Madame Tussauds in New York.

The pair have been replicated in their helmets and ‘Random Access Memories’-era suits, custom-tailored replicas of Saint Laurent’s sequin tuxedoes originally designed by Hedi Slimane.

The waxworks appear in front of a DJ booth with visuals from their 2013 project on a screen behind, displayed in the museum’s ‘Glow Gala’ area inspired by New York's numerous galas over the years, which boasts other figures including Ariana Grande, RuPaul, Beyoncé, and more.

“6x GRAMMY Award-winning French electronic music duo Daft Punk will ‘Get Lucky’ with yet another accomplishment in their storied career - brand new figures at the world's greatest wax museum, Madame Tussauds New York,” reads a post from Madame Tussauds.

The figures, which represent Thomas Bangalter and Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo, wear matching replica gloves and suits, as well as their iconic pyramid pendant necklaces in gold and silver respectively.

“[This represents] the precise detail that went into crafting the figures ‘Alive’ with the luxurious fashion sense the pair came to be known for,” Madame Tussauds explained.

The “realistic” waxwork figures were unveiled at the museum on Tuesday, February 27, celebrating 10 years of the duo’s historic ‘Random Access Memories’ album.

Last year, Daft Punk released a special edition copy of their 2013 record, along with new unheard music and never-before-seen snippets from behind the scenes. In November, they also dropped a “drumless edition” of the album.
