Long-running Glasgow nightclub Kokomo is set to close after 12 years next month.

The 400-capacity venue on West Regent Street, Glasgow, has been a fixture of the city's nightlife since 2013, famously hosting Madonna for an afterparty of her 2015 tour.

The multi-room, 400-capacity venue first opened on West Regent Street in 2013, hosting club nights throughout the week.

In an Instagram post shared on Monday, October 20, the club announced that it will bid farewell to its home for the final time with a closing event on Saturday, November 1.

“Kokomo is closing its doors from Sunday, November 2 - but not before one last weekend to remember," they wrote. "This isn’t goodbye without a party. It’s your final chance to dance under the lights, sing your heart out, and make one more legendary memory where it all began.”

Just a couple of year after it opened in 2015, Madonna was snuck into the VIP area of the club with her crew and dancers for an afterparty following her last UK show of the year.

John Blaen, creative director at Kokomo, told the Daily Record at the time: "It's fantastic to have an artist of Madonna's stature choose our venue for her private party. It was a privilege to have her in the club and see her having such a good time.”

Unfortunately, Madonna’s night ended early after a fire alarm caused everyone to evacuate at 3:AM, where she “ran off into the night" undetected by fellow punters.

The club’s closure comes just months after the venue was put on the market for an annual rent of £95,000.

A September 2024 report from CGA Neilson showed that Scotland lost 34% of its nightclubs in just four years, with the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) calling it an “alarming issue”.
