London rapper DigDat jailed for life following drive-by shooting
The incident, which occurred in 2023, left a 27-year-old with life-threatening injuries
South London rapper DigDat has been jailed for life following a 2023 drive-by shooting that left a man in critical condition, the BBC News reports.
The 26-year-old artist, whose real name is Nathan Tokosi, was handed his sentence at the Old Bailey yesterday (January 27), requiring him to serve a minimum of 24 years in prison.
Tokosi was found guilty of shooting Daniel Offei-Ntow, 27, from the seat of his car on November 20, 2023, in Notting Hill. He was shot six times in the head, mouth, and body, sustaining life-threatening injuries.
While wounded, Offei-Ntow was still able to drag himself back to his flat, the court heard, when police followed a trail of blood to find him at home and "in shock". He required two surgeries to save his life.
Tokosi was found guilty of attempted murder and firearms charges last year following two trials, receiving his sentence earlier this week. The Met Police’s Det Insp Chris Shepherd called the attack "premeditated, reckless and malicious".
Helen Shaw from the Crown Prosecution Service also condemned the "utterly mindless” attack, one that nearly “claimed the life” of the 27-year-old man. "Nathan Tokosi clearly intended to kill his victim by shooting him in the head at close range," she said. "With CCTV revealing Tokosi doing several drives around the area in a stolen Audi in the days and hours before the shooting.”
Tokosi, from Deptford, south London, rose to fame under the alias DigDat in 2018 with his hit track ‘Air Force’, which peaked at number 20 in the UK Singles Chart and was later remixed by the likes of Krept & Konan and K-Trap.
