Applications for the Sound of London Collective will be open until August 14. Successful applicants will be offered a year-long contract, running from November 2026 to the following November, and will be paid a fee of £250 per set, of which they can be expected to play "roughly one set per month".
Each of the 12 DJs will also be offered professional headshots, three professional development sessions, and "artist sessions" in which they will be given "space, time and budget" to socialise with their fellow collective members.
The museum will also host a welcome workshop for successful applicants, offering the opportunity to learn about soundsystem culture with legendary London-based reggae DJ, MC and club promoter Don “Papa Face” Facey.
According to a description on the museum's website, the competition is open to DJs "who play across any and all music styles," with applicants expected to come from one of London's 33 boroughs, be over 18, have the right to work in the UK, and have experience of DJing live across a range of "contexts and audiences".
