Lollapalooza offers refunds to festivalgoers after Drake is replaced by Skrillex for Brazil headline set

Lollapalooza Brasil has offered disappointed fans refunds if they chose not to attend the final day of the festival after Drake abruptly dropped out of his headline slot and was replaced by Skrillex.

On Sunday morning (March 26), the day that the Canadian rapper was scheduled to perform, Lollapalooza Brasil posted on Instagram announcing that he would no longer be performing.

Captioned “A message from Drake”, it read (translated by Mixmag): “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Drake is without members of his sound and production team, essential to the realisation of the Lollapalooza show in Sāo Paulo.

“Drake was excited to perform for his fans in Brazil,” it continued. “Unfortunately, this is beyond his control. Sorry.”

Just hours before the news dropped, Drake was spotted partying in Miami, at the Booby Trap on the River Strip Club, where rapper 50 Cent was headlining the evening’s bill.

And as per CNN Brasil, eagle-eyed fans spotted that Drake’s private jet, which he had been using on his South American tour, took off from Bogotá on Saturday night, and instead of heading to Sāo Paulo, turned away and landed in Miami.

It’s not currently known whether Drake’s attendance at the Miami party directly led to his dropping out of Lollapalooza Brasil.

Drake was not the only artist to not make their scheduled appearance at the Sāo Paulo weekender, with WILLOW, Blink-182, Dominic Fike, Omar Apollo and 100 Gecs also pulling out of this year’s edition.

For the replacement headline set, Skrillex played for around 90 minutes, going through a number of his greatest hits, including his collaborative track with Damian Marley ‘Make It Bun Dem’, his remix of Travis Scott’s ‘Sicko Mode (ft. Drake)', and his fred again.. and Flowdan collaboration ‘Rumble’, as well as three separate edits of the track.
