Listen to David August's first solo material since 2014
'J.B.Y's is out on Counter Records tomorrow
David August is hooking up with Ninja Tune's Counter Records label for two new tracks.
Out digitally tomorrow, 'J.B.Y' and 'Ouvert' are the German producer's first solo material since the 'Epikur' EP in 2014, released on Innervisions.
'J.B.Y', teeming with high-pitched melodies, bumpy drum kicks and blissful vocals, is streaming now and vinyl heads will be able to buy the record on May 6.
Describing 'J.B.Y', Counter's press release reads: "This isn’t house music, this isn’t the clubs, this isn’t the places August has been hitherto. ‘J.B.Y.’ resolves not with an explosive “moment” but with delicately beautiful Erased Tapes-esque piano introspection and the evocation of tape-hiss drenched ambience."
You'll also be able to catch the Diynamic Music, Stil Vor Talent and Innervisions affiliate at London venue KOKO on June 29.
Listen to 'J.B.Y' below.
