Leeds' Freedom Mills to close at the end of November

Leeds venue Freedom Mills has announced that it will close at the end of November, 10 years since it first opened.

In a statement posted via Instagram yesterday (October 8), the team behind the venue said: "It's with mixed emotions that we announce the time has come to say goodbye to Freedom Mills at Washington Street, for good, on November 28."

Freedom Mills, which first opened on Boxing Day 2015, said it will close due to the redevelopment of Kirkstall Road, a building project consisting of 503 residences close to where the venue is currently situated.

The venue has announced a run of closing parties to celebrate a decade of Freedom Mills, and to bid its current home farewell, including a final party on November 28 which will run from 6:PM until "whenever we feel like it."

While the Washington Street site for Freedom Mills will close, the team also shared that they have found a new location for the venue "with a fresh, slightly different concept that we can’t wait to share with you. All will be revealed in due time."

In order to relocate, the Freedom Mills team has launched a GoFundMe to help pay for costs related to licensing, planning permission, building the new venue and more.
