Lab on Location: Honey Soundsystem in The Lab San Francisco

The Lab is Mixmag and Smirnoff Sound Collective’s weekly party, where we stream the best American and international DJs from intimate locations across North America. This time, Mixmag takes The Lab on location to select destinations to highlight the city’s culture and electronic music audience.

On Thursday, June 8, Mixmag and Smirnoff Sound Collective head to San Francisco to celebrate Pride Month and the LGBTQ community with a special Lab session with Honey Soundsystem at The Stud.

Honey Soundsystem is a four-piece collective made up of Jason Kendig, Jacob Sperber aka Jackie House, Josh Cheon and Robot Yang aka Beziér. Founded in 2006 in the city of San Francisco and inspired by the flourishing gay underground scene, Honey Soundsystem first championed a weekly Sunday night party that ran for five years which hosted the likes of Horse Meat Disco, Honey Dijon, Todd Terje, KiNK and many more before founding three outstanding labels: Honey Soundsystem Records, Disciare and Dark Entires.

The Stud is an iconic staple of San Francisco's gay nightlife, open since 1966 and hosting drag and burlesque shows and killer cocktail events. The venue is owned by an 18-person worker-owner cooperative, making every night at The Stud a family operation.
