Kölsch is set to make a return next month with a new autobiographical album, titled '1989'.

The forthcoming release will see the Danish artist return to Kompakt to complete his album trilogy, with the LP following his ‘1977’ and ‘1983’ offerings.

Both albums explored different periods in Kölsch’s younger years, from his early childhood memories on ‘1977’ to his picturesque tour of Europe as an infant on ‘1983’.

On ‘1989’, Kölsch reminisces over his formative years, arriving in his early teens. In the press release, he referred to the year as “a difficult time in my life, where I mostly just remember the greyness of it all – grey feelings, grey weather and my own grey face.”

He explained: “Music became my saviour – the only way to overcome my family’s hard times. I found a soundtrack to my grey life, and suddenly there was colour.”

The album features contributions from past affiliate Gregor Schwellenbach, as well as Norwegian vocalist Aurora.

‘1989’ is out on September 22 on Kompakt. Take a look at the tracklist below and get your pre-orders in here.
