Kidnap marks return with new single 'Overgrown'

Kidnap, fka Kidnap Kid, has made his return with new single 'Overgrown', featuring Leo Stannard.

The track is a catchy, breaks-infused house anthem with a booting of melodic choral effects, organs and yearning vocals from Stannard, who contributes an emotional, wistful note to the affair.

'Overgrown' heralds Kidnap's forthcoming second studio LP, set for release this autumn. The album is set to chronicle a turning point in his life, since the pandemic and becoming a father. It addresses nostalgia to his partying days and welcoming his new role as a parent, with a consequent burst of creativity and club-ready music to boot.

“‘Overgrown’ is a love letter to my friends and the times we've left behind,” Kidnap explains on the single. “It's a bittersweet lament for summer nights and the fading lights of youth. Leo's voice has been an integral part of my musical story, so it felt right that he should help tell the next chapter.

“The album is about looking back on the last twelve years of releasing music — the touring and the partying and the friends and the sleeplessness, and realising that in order to fully embrace the life I have now, I need to let it all go.”
