Released at the back end of October, we couldn't let Kid D's self-released 'Shaolin Shoggage' EP escape our grasp. Released on his own '2 Easy' imprint, it reminds us how adept he is at sampling just about anything to make some of the most underrated grime out there.

The title track flutters about with slapstick, 16-bit arcade samples, sino melodies and jazzy notes, while 'Golden Move' shimmers and glows. 'Special Move' too is a beautiful, delicate track, sampling more blissful Eastern melodies, before tracks like 'Ancient Legacy' and 'Praying Mantis', although still light, bring more of a sinister grime punch.

Masterclass.
