Kendrick Lamar to speak about ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ in new podcast series

A new five-part podcast series will see Kendrick Lamar speak with special guests about his 2015 album ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’.
Docuseries podcast, The Big Hit Show with journalist Alex Pappademas will be hosting the discussion.
The Kendrick Lamar season will also be produced on Barack and Michelle Obama’s media company Higher Ground.

Features from the album George Clinton and Rapsody are also heard as special guests to the show in a short trailer.
“Going back into the album it was me explaining my experiences and what emotions it brought up from that experience, and tell them like, ‘Yo, it’s something bigger than Compton and where we from,'” Lamar says in the small clip.

He adds, “Going from hit to big hit is all about follow-through, how you carry it, what you do when all of a sudden nobody can tell you anything.

“In hip hop, we have this thing the sophomore jinx,” Lamar is heard saying. “I took it upon myself to do something that inspires me.”
The description to the series summarises the show by saying: “In Season 2 of The Big Hit Show, the best rapper alive tries to figure out what to do next, channelling the pressures of fame and the pain of a generation into a career-defining masterwork, 'To Pimp a Butterfly'.”
The first chapter of the five-part podcast series is exclusive to Spotify and goes out tomorrow.
