37 years since its original release, Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ has hit the US charts and gained the singer her first-ever entry into the US Top 10.

The 1985-released track made its way to number eight in the Billboard Hot 100 chart, while the track also re-entered the UK Top 10 - and it's with thanks to none other than Netflix’s hit TV show, Stranger Things.

Since the latest season of the Netflix show aired last month, Spotify streams of the frequently appearing track shot up by at least 153%.

Throughout the show, ‘Running Up That Hill’ features a number of times at pivotal moments, as well as the opening episode.

To commemorate the track’s renewed success, Kate Bush released a rare statement on Sunday via her website, reading: “You might’ve heard that the first part of the fantastic, gripping new series of Stranger Things has recently been released on Netflix.

“It features the song, Running Up That Hill which is being given a whole new lease of life by the young fans who love the show – I love it too,” she said.

Bush went on to praise the “epic” show itself, saying: “When the first series came out, friends kept asking us if we’d seen Stranger Things, so we checked it out and really loved it. We’ve watched every series since then, as a family.

“When they approached us to use ‘Running Up That Hill’, you could tell that a lot of care had gone into how it was used in the context of the story and I really liked the fact that the song was a positive totem for the character, Max. I’m really impressed by this latest series,” she added.
