Mr G signs Jayson Wynters to his Phoenix G imprint
It's only the second non-Mr G release since 1999
Mr G's label, Phoenix G, has only ever had one release from an artist that isn't the label founder, but Birmingham producer Jayson Wynters has now landed himself an EP on it.
The four-track 'Unfamiliar Territories' came about after Mr G (pictured) met Wynters in Stockholm three years ago, soon receiving some tunes from the former garage MC.
Mr G revealed: "Eventually I get sent his music and I gave some positive critique. A year later another batch arrived and I thought 'wow is this the same guy?' There was depth, soul and emotion yet in a totally personal way with a vision – and he's a Brummie! I had to take a chance and put my money where my mouth is and show my support as this shit touched me – dope!"
The EP features everything from subtle acid licks to spoken word samples and a concoction of subterranean sounds and it's set to be released on February 5.
