Jackmaster has died aged 38

Scottish DJ and producer Jackmaster has died, aged 38.

The family of Jackmaster, real name Jack Revill, confirmed his death via Instagram today (October 12), writing: "It is with profound sorrow that we confirm the untimely passing of Jack Revill, known to many as Jackmaster."

The statement confirms that Revill had passed away earlier this morning (October 12) in Ibiza, "following complications arising from an accidental head injury."

"His family — Kate, Sean, and Johnny — are utterly heartbroken," the statement continues. "While deeply touched by the overwhelming support from friends, colleagues, and fans, the family kindly requests privacy as they navigate the immense grief of this devastating loss."

The former Mixmag cover star and Glasgow native was known for his genre-spanning mixes and productions on labels including CircoLoco Records and Crosstown Rebels, with an affinity for house, Baltimore club, bass music, and much more.

Revill began working at Glasgow-based record store Rubadub from the age of 14 where he was paid in vinyl before securing a full time job at the shop, and from there would go on to land slots on local station Radio Magnetic.

In 2006, Revill launched the first of many self-founded record labels, Point.One Recordings, an electro-focused imprint featuring releases from the likes of Rustie under his Voltaic alias, and Miami producer Gosub.

From there, Revill launched several more labels including Dress 2 Sweat, Seldom Felt, Wireblock, and his famous Numbers imprint and club night, which combined three of his labels and included releases from Jamie xx to SOPHIE.

"[Jackmaster's] talent for blending genres and delivering electrifying DJs sets and productions earned him the respect and admiration of peers and fans across the globe," his family said. "His legacy will continue to inspire, and his impact on the world of dance music will remain indelible."

The music industry has paid tribute to the late DJ across social media today. Artists and friends of Revill including Disclosure, Skream, wAFF, Nightwave, CamelPhat, Annie Mac, Melé, Damian Lazarus and more have paid their condolences.

In a tribute posted earlier today, Skream wrote: "Not really not too sure what I'm meant to say.. Everyone knows how much the boy meant to me.. From the minute we met we were kindred spirits."

"There’s never been a Skream without Jacky sequencer and vice versa," he added. "You were my brother and we went through so much together.. I’ll miss you dearly Jack."
