iZIKI Records celebrates its third birthday with forthcoming ‘Esigia’ EP

To mark three years of his Afro house label iZIKI, Djuma Soundsystem is proudly releasing his highly-anticipated ‘Esigia’ EP.

Set for release on June 7, the EP is a collaborative project with French electronic artist Yann Coppier and Ghanaian singer and kologo player King Ayisoba, also featuring remixes from Kintar, Kellerkind and RUSKAR.

Official formed in June 2021, iZIKI began as a series of parties before it was a label, helping to spark the Afro house scene in NYC and subsequently growing to include events in over 30 different locations globally.

Label boss Mikkas Skulstad, AKA Djuma Soundsystem, explains: "My aim was to cultivate a community rather than just a party concept. I envisioned it as an open-source endeavor, rather than a cloistered brand. This way, it would attract participants who felt liberated and inspired."

The three previously collaborated on "Anyimo", which was released on Crosstown Rebels in early 2016. With the followup single 8 years in the making, Djuma Soundsystem had the concept of merging King Ayisoba's kologo skills with the iconic sounds of Chicago house music.

"Instead of pumping out as much music as possible, that seems to be the norm for most labels these days, we believe the artists deserve that we spend proper time to work on each release" says Mikkas.

He continued "We have a great line of new talent lined up for the near future, that we are very excited to share with the world". Artists like Natema, Urmet K, Native P, Curol, Viktor, Starboy Nation , as well as in-house talents like Mezomo and Ruskar are all part of iZIKI’s future.
