Is Tectonic the Label Of The Decade? Vote now
Bristol is of course a hub of bass-heavy dance music and Tectonic has been one of the city’s foremost labels since it put out its first 12” in 2005. Run by DJ/producer Pinch, the imprint was instrumental in releasing early dubstep by Skream, Loefah and Distance as well as the more techno-inclined 140bpm pioneered by 2562 and Martyn. Lately, the label has been concerned with more mutant strains of bass music, welcoming Mumdance & Logos and Acre to its roster. There’s also a sub label called Cold, specialising in techno infusions by new artists, and scene anthems like ‘Big Slugs’, meaning Tectonic is as relevant as ever.
