Opal Tapes, now located in Newcastle, is home to acts such as Patricia, Cloudface and Lumigraph. Like the majority of artists on the label, their sounds aren’t typical of house and techno. They are almost broken down, as the tracks are abstract and industrial. Opal Tapes has been experimenting with dance music since 2012 and it’s founder Stephen Bishop continues to release as Basic House and organises live electronic music events across the UK.
