If 50 Weapons is the boisterous younger sibling then Monkeytown is the mischievous older brother who was up to no good long before. Set up by Modeselektor as a home for their music, some of the duo’s most seminal work has arrived via the label. The album of the same name was a particular highlight, as are the Moderat LPs and releases from close friends Sirusmo, Dark Sky and Anstam. As far as German techno labels go, this one has the fun firmly intact and anyone who’s a fan of Gernot and Szary will no doubt be fond of this imprint. A true gem.
