After finally breaking through to traditional major music awards shows and receiving proper recognition, the time has arrived for the electronic music industry to honor the pioneering greats of its own genre. The inaugural Electronic Music Awards & Foundation (EMAF) will be making its debut in April 14 of this year as a live event in Los Angeles, but most excitingly, will also be broadcasted on Fox TV in the United States on Saturday, April 23.
Paul Oakenfold - the legend who first pioneered his way to the West Coast many years ago - has partnered with Fox and production company TV4 Entertainment to produce EMAF. The show will be a red carpet event that will invite along some of the industry's top-tier artists, executives and professionals that have yet to be announced.
Like any other awards show, EMAF will also feature live performances and award presentations, and voting for 15 categories will begin on February 15. The categories reflect honors included in other music awards, including Album of the Year, Single of the Year, DJ of the Year, Radio Show of the Year, People's Choice Award, Lifetime Achievement Award and Best New Artist. Being an electronic awards show, the event will also honor a Club of the Year and Festival of the Year.
EMAF will be directed by Russell Thomas, the former producer of the MTV EMA Awards from 2011-2015 and the 'Katy Perry: Part of Me' documentary.
The Electronic Music Awards & Foundation will broadcast on April 23 on Fox at 8pm-9pm ET/PT.
