Iconic Ibiza beach club Bora Bora has been demolished

Photographs have surfaced online showing that the iconic Ibiza beach club Bora Bora has been demolished.

The shots, posted on Twitter by account Rave Footage, shows the site of the former hotspot with just the structure of where the bar was situated and the entrance remaining.

The caption read simply: “The end of an era.”

It was announced last summer (July 2022) that the year’s season would be the club’s final one, having been open for 40 years.

No specific reason was given, but the news came in front of a backdrop of increasing tension with island residents, with political group Podemos launching a campaign last year (February 2022) to ban beach parties due to loud and far reaching noise pollution.

In an Instagram post announcing the news at the time, the club said: “Dear and beloved followers, fans, haters and lovers, we don’t want to sadden you with this news, even if yes, it’s goodbye.

“All of you who have had fun with us, we want you to remember it, that all those great moments lived can come to you and come to greet us, but DANCING,” it continued. “Because as goodbye, we want a big party. It’s the end of many stages and we want to celebrate it in style, just like in the old days, without filters.

“That’s right, this time it’s true. This is the last chance to come and dance with us!”

Located in the Playa d’en Bossa area, which is also home to local hotspots Ushuaïa and Hï, Bora Bora first opened in 1982 and became known for its legendary day parties, where people could often see regular island DJs spin for free.

Artists including David Morales, Sister Bliss and Danny Tenaglia have all played across the venue’s storied history.
