London-based record label Lobster Theremin has gone from small-city imprint to widely-praised powerhouse in a very short space of time. Wicked EPs from Manse, Route 8 and Daze have quickly established it as one of the freshest vinyl labels on road.

We covered the label last year as part of our Imprint series and label boss Asquith put together a pretty mesmerising mix encompassing the roster's sound and ethos.

It's now time for a new adventure though and Distant Hawaii is the brand new sub-label from the Lobster family. It's aimed to showcase a different, more accessible sound as put by Asquith below.

"Distant Hawaii basically picks up from the lighter side of what Lobster Theremin explores. It's an outlet for the softer, more soulful sides of house music with a particular Detroit influence. Tracks to melt the sun like butter on a roasting-hot lobster."

The first release comes from Hidden Spheres and the smooth and sultry four-tracker perfectly captures the sub-label's musical policy. We've got the premiere of 'Bill Loves You' and we're sure you're going to love Bill too.

Lush pianos, groove-fuelled melodies and enough sun-drenched beats to give you a tan are on show here. With some damn nice horn sections and a beautifully warm feel, this is a great start for a very promising new imprint.

The 'Waiting' EP will be released on July 24 via Distant Hawaii
