The Lab Johannesburg is Mixmag and Budweiser’s weekly live event where we showcase the finest DJs at iconic rooftop bar Venue Thirteen, overlooking starlit Johannesburg.

On Wednesday, June 15, we’re excited to showcase Heavy-K plus special guests Vitoto and TAU. Sign up for guestlist here.

Mkhululi Siqula - better known as Heavy-K or the ‘drum boss’, as referred to by fans - steps up to the decks next week in The Lab Johannesburg. Born in South Africa’s Eastern Cape and influenced by the pioneering musicians around him, Heavy-K moved to Johannesburg at just 21 to pursue a career in production. Siqula has spent the past decade finding his niche and now specialises in blends of Afro house, amapiano, and percussive tracks that first landed him the title of ‘drum boss’ all those years ago.

Warming up for our star act is DJ Vitoto and Joburg's TAU. DJ Vitoto’s come-up has seen the producer rise through multiple awards and impressive collaborations, while his background as an instrumentalist, drummer, and percussionist has helped him to carve out a unique sound as a DJ and producer. Sign up for Heavy-K in The Lab Johannesburg here.

Find out more about future events here, and catch the stream post-event on Thursday, June 16 at 8:PM SAST (7:PM BST). Tune in over on our Facebook page and on MixmagTV.
