There's a new Wordle-inspired game for music fans called "Heardle"

There's a new game for music lovers which is inspired by Wordle, Heardle.

Created by Omakase, Heardle has similar aims to Wordle where you're given a set amount of tries to figure out the song of the day.

The game is available on Heardle.app and is heavily inspired by the viral word game Wordle launched by software engineer Josh Wardle. Wordle has now been aquired by The New York Times.

According to the game’s website, the songs are “plucked from a list of the most-streamed songs in the past decade” - giving contemporary music fans a decent chance to guess each one.

What is Heardle and how do you play it?

Heardle has the same basic aim as Wordle, to figure out the answer of that day in as few tries as possible. Snippets of the song are given as clues to the player.

Players are given six attempts, the same amount of attempts as in Wordle, to guess the Heardle song of the day. Each song clipping gets progressively longer to try and give the player more to work with.

However, unlike in Wordle, players don't have to guess after hearing every snippet of the daily song.

Don't worry - you can also share your Heardle answers online like you can share your Wordle answers, so your Twitter followers will know all about your popular music expertise (or lack of).

Heardle joins a slew of other Wordle inspired games that have popped up since the word game's popularity, including Worldle (which tests Geography knowledge) and Dungleon (which tests knowledge on fantasy worlds and characters.
