Hardwell won the Best International DJ award over Carl Cox and got booed
Ibiza doesn't like it when the King loses out
Carl Cox is the undisputed king of Ibiza, so it doesn't go down too well when he doesn't prevail. As Hardwell found at the 20th anniversary of the Ibiza DJ Awards.
The Dutch artist, who wasn't present at the ceremony, won Best International DJ, beating Coxy, Sven Väth and Solomun to the accolade, and found out it didn't go down too well as he was booed when his pre-recorded message was played.
Coxy might have lost out on that one, but he did scoop Best Techno DJ to make up for it. Other former Mixmag cover stars, Hannah Wants and Black Coffee, won the Best Bass DJ and Best Deep House DJ awards respectively.
Luciano picked up the Tech House gong, Claptone won the House category and Solardo won Best Breakthrough.
