The Glove That Fits secures 4:AM licence and reveals “major transformation”

Hackney-based club and live music space, The Glove That Fits, has secured a permanent late licence.

The intimate, 120-capacity venue will now operate until 4:AM on weekends and 2:AM on Thursdays, the team revealed on Instagram yesterday (February 4).

The late licence was approved by Hackney Council, and will see the venue’s hours extended by several hours, from its previous 12:AM closures on Thursdays and 1:AM closures on weekends.

“Running an independent club with an early licence hasn’t been easy, but we’ve managed to keep it going with a small but dedicated team,” the team behind the venue explained.

“Thanks to the council and to everyone who’s supported the space respectfully over the years, we’re proud to announce a new permanent late licence.”

The change also means that the venue’s “outdoor yard” area, named Gloves Off, will see extended hours, with day events now able to run until 11:PM on weekends with a “chill out” space open outdoors until 1:AM.

The Morning Lane venue also shared news that it has undergone its “first major physical transformation” in years, following its last renovations in 2018.

The Glove That Fits will now feature a new layout, and upgraded soundsystem with “precision tuning”, updated DJ equipment, a new lighting rig and a rebuilt DJ booth.

“It’s an exciting and important step in the life of our little venue,” says founder Seb Glover. “In an increasingly challenging environment to operate in, this extension allows us to further support the artists, creators and creative ecosystem that we love and that makes the UK such a unique and rich place to be.”
