Manchester Airport unveils Haçienda-themed Terminal 2 bar

Manchester Airport has unveiled its new-look Terminal 2 bar, which is themed around legendary Mancunian nightclub The Haçienda

Set to open to the public later this year, The Amber Alehouse now features several nods to the historic venue, including flooring inspired by The Haçienda's trademark yellow and black design.

The bar also features pictures of Manchester musicians such as Oasis and The Stone Roses, and framed vinyl records spanning the Madchester era to the present day.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the bar will feature "DJ-curated playlists" to "recreate the club’s electric atmosphere", with guest DJs being invited to play sets "from time to time” for Terminal 2 travellers.

Alongside beers from Salford brewery Seven Bro7her, the bar will serve cocktails named after Haçienda legends, including a Happy Mondays Mojito and New Order Negroni.

Upon reopening, The Amber Alehouse will feature 100 additional seats including "high-top tables and booth areas mimicking the club’s VIP zones," the Manchester Mirror reports.

“This bar is our love letter to Manchester’s musical heritage," airport spokesperson Chris Woodroofe told the Manchester Evening News. "We’ve recreated the electric atmosphere of The Haçienda right here in Terminal 2, so passengers can sip a cocktail while soaking in the vibes that made the club world-famous.”

“Travellers often complain about soulless airport waits. This bar changes that – neon lights, graffiti walls, and Haçienda memorabilia will make it feel like a night out before your flight," he added.
