The decision to book Kanye West as headliner for Glastonbury Festival has parted a nation, and organiser Emily Eavis has revealed she's received death threats from those who disagree with her artist selection.

Eavis, who organises Glastonbury with her father Michael, has been confronted with a massive retaliation from Glastonbury fans and non-festival goers. An online petition has racked up 134,000 signatures in an attempt to get the rapper off the line-up for this year's festival this June.

"I had death threats and stuff. It was just horrible." She told The Evening Standard. "It was quite upsetting because we were talking about something that was so exciting and interesting and fresh and brilliant for the festival. Kanye West is making the most exciting music at the moment."

Despite the negative response, the organisers have stood by their decision and in a previous editorial for The Guardian Emily Eavis explained, "The overwhelming majority of our 135,000 ticket-holders are clearly not too concerned by that particular two-hour slot on one of the 100 stages at our five-day event."

Kanye is set to headline the Saturday at Glastonbury.
