Keith Robinson, part of the Desert Storm Soundsystem collective that pioneered the rave scene in Glasgow, is believed to have taken his own life.

Desert Storm Soundsystem announced the news on its Facebook page, explaining that he "ended his extraordinary and wonderful life in the River Thames on the afternoon of Sunday 18th September, apparently by choice."

It continues to say that his family are asking his friends to "share their sorrow and be patient" as more information about his death is compiled.

The 48-year-old is credited as putting on the first illegal rave in Glasgow in 1991, in response to strict entry time curfews at venues throughout the Scottish city. Three years later, after the Criminal Justice Bill had been introduced, Desert Storm provided the music at a rally against the anti-rave law in Trafalgar Square.

Desert Storm also travelled to Bosnia in 1994, a war-torn country at the time, to throw a morale-boosting gig on New Year's Eve. Other moments on Desert Storm's timeline include its involvement in Reclaim The Streets demos in London and Bristol.

LuckyMe member Eclair Fifi is among those to have paid tribute to him, as seen below.
