Glasgow nightclub The Shed hints at return just months after closure
The iconic club is set to reopen under a new name
Long-standing Glasgow nightclub The Shed has teased its return under a new name just months after it was shuttered, Glasgow Live reports.
In September 2024, the club announced its closure after 26 years in operation, citing industry struggles and problems with the upkeep of the building.
The club, located in Glasgow’s Shawlands near Queen’s Park, hosted its final event on September 14, with owners calling the decision to close a “difficult” one.

“The iconic building, like its custodians, has aged and hospitality demands constant innovation, energy and support to keep going. It is no secret that this industry is struggling,” they announced on Instagram.
Earlier this week, The Shed’s social media pages changed name to The Marlborough, posting a cryptic message online reading: “We’ve heard the whispers, we’re sure you have too, but it won’t be long now… Marlborough nights coming soon.”
The club’s renaming is thought to be a nod to the building’s former name, Marlborough House, originally established in 1920 as a community centre for events.

The venue's owners told Glasgow Live that it will return with an “air of sophistication and intrigue”, saying that there’s a real “community buzz” around its reopening.
They also added that renovations are currently going ahead at the venue, which has operated for over 100 years as an event space. "The Marlborough will be well worth the wait,” they said.
In September, following the announcement of its closure, the team behind the venue said that they hoped the site will “flourish” in whatever form it takes, but noted that it would not remain a nightclub any longer.
