Edinburgh and Glasgow beat London as busiest nightlife locations, new study finds

Edinburgh and Glasgow have ranked above London as the UK's busiest nightlife destinations, according to a new study from the taxi app Uber.

Per a press release, new data reveals that Edinburgh reigned supreme as the busiest city by night with the highest number of requested taxi trips between 10:PM and 4:AM. Cabaret Voltaire ranked as the most popular venue to order rides home from in the Scottish capital.

Meanwhile, Glasgow was the second busiest city in the UK at night, with Uber finding that, in 2025, the city’s most popular pick-up and drop-off destination was legendary venue Sub Club. It also found that the OVO Hydro was one of the most popular live music venues.

London secured the third-highest ranking, with data showing that fabric was one of the most popular destinations by night last year.

Other clubs that proved most popular destinations for a night out included Cardiff's Clwb Ifor Bach, Manchester's Soup Kitchen, Birmingham's LAB11, Leeds' Mint Warehouse, and Liverpool's Heebie Jeebies.

“Our data shows that from Leeds to London, people are using Uber to connect to the best that Britain has to offer," says Andrew Brem, Regional General Manager for Uber UK. "People are embracing their passions and the country’s iconic destinations."

In November, taxi app Bolt released a separate study revealing a 15% increase in the amount Brits went on a night out in 2025 compared to the year prior.

The data showed that the time people left for a night out also grew later last year, with peak time shifting from 11:PM in 2024 to midnight in 2025.

Cities that ranked top for busiest nightlife destinations in Bolt’s study included Bath, Bristol, Newcastle, London, and Cardiff, with the app also offering services such as e-bikes and scooters.
