Gilles Peterson has premiered his ‘Brasil Bam Bam Bam’ film which is now available to stream online. The documentary sees the 6 Music selector alongside Sam Shepherd (aka Floating Points) and Rob G (aka Earl Zinger of Galliano and 2 Banks of 4) explore the Brazilian music scene.

The clip coincides with Rio’s 2016 Olympic Opening Ceremony last week, and was filmed back in 2014 to be shown at private film festivals before being made available to the public.

The film also documents performances from Elza Soares, and the process behind Peterson’s making his ‘Sonzeira’ album which came out back in May.

Peterson said: “Brazil’s music culture is massive. There’s the North – Bahia, Recife, the afro-brazilian sound. There’s batucada, the heavy sambas. Then bossa nova – Tom Jobim and all that history… I wanted to try and cover it all – to make a kind of Buena Vista meets club culture, but to keep it sonically very modern” (via Gillespetersonworldwide.com).
