Garage and grime MC Major Ace has passed away

Luke Monero had a brain tumour for three years

British MC Major Ace has passed away after suffering from a brain tumour.

Real name Luke Monero, he was a member of garage crew Pay As U Go Cartel - which also featured Wiley and Rinse FM founders Geeneus and Slimzee among others - who got into the top 20 of the UK Singles Chart with 'Champagne Dance' in 2002.

Monero's younger brother revealed he had died on Instagram last night, detailing his illness and paying tribute to his achievements.

A number of artists including Wiley, DJ EZ, D Double E and Plastician have paid tribute on social media.
