Future of Hackney's The Bath House, home of GIANT STEPS, has been secured
The venue will continue to operate as a not-for-profit space under the management of social enterprise Community Sauna Baths
Hackney Wick's The Bath House, the former 1930s public bath which hosts parties such as GIANT STEPS, will continue to operate as a community-run space as part of an agreement with local authorities.
Announced last week (October 2), Hackney Council announced that it had reached an agreement with social enterprise Community Sauna Baths to take over management of the venue, ensuring it remains a not-for-profit space.

The Bath House came under threat following a decision by the council to terminate the lease of its former operators, Civic State, in June.
A petition calling on Sadiq Khan and Mayor of Hackney Caroline Woodley to reverse the decision resulted in over 6,000 signatures due to the venue's cultural importance in the borough.
Community Sauna Baths has operated from the building since 2021, also offering sauna and cold plunge experiences, but will now manage the entire building including its venue spaces — which often host events such as GIANT STEPS, Boboxa and Club Alegría.
