Fundraiser launched to support Peven Everett’s cancer treatment

A fundraiser has been launched to support Peven Everett’s cancer treatment.

The Chicago house vocalist and producer has been diagnosed with lung cancer, according to a message on his GoFundMe, which a friend says is becoming increasingly expensive to treat.

Launched at the end of July by a friend of the vocalist, George Shaban, the fundraiser hopes to raise $100,000 towards treatment. So far, they’ve raised just over $30,000.

“Trying to raise money for my friend Peven who needs treatment for lung cancer,” the fundraiser reads. “Any donation will help. The cost of treatments is mounting.”

It adds: “Let's give Peven some well-deserved life-saving flowers. He is in the process of treating healing and creating. Any donation is appreciated.”

Peven Everett was born into a musical family in Chicago, Illinois, playing instruments from a young age. In 1996, after meeting Chicago producer Roy Davis Jr., the pair released a collaborative track named ‘Gabriel’ (originally titled ‘Gabrielle’) which went on to peak in the UK charts.

In 1999, Peven set up his own record label, Studio Confession, as a home for his own productions and a way to “explore all the different styles of music that I loved”. It currently hosts “around 50 to 60 albums” to date, he said recently on Instagram.

In recent years, Peven has worked alongside the likes of Gorillaz, performing alongside the group during their 2017/2018 Humanz Tour after appearing on two tracks from the 2017 record ‘Humanz’.
