Freq is bringing Ethel to Leeds for its upcoming party

Leeds-based Freq has announced its upcoming party at Wire - one of Mixmag’s clubs to rave at in 2022 - which will take place on April 9.

French born, Berlin-based Ethel will be headlining, providing a three hour set, supported by Freq residents.

“The first time I played in Leeds was in 2019. I didn’t get a chance to come back to this city since, but I keep such amazing memories of my first night there,” explains Ethel.

“What I remember the most is the energy of the crowd and the lovely people I met there. I can’t wait to come back and play for the Freq crew.”

“I’m extremely excited to have Ethel come down and play for us in such an intimate and well respected venue,” explains Freq’s founder, Harry Wilkinson. “Her sound encapsulates everything that we love about the scene and strive for at Freq. Proper underground music that takes the listener on a journey.

“One thing that always stands out for us is how passionate and likeminded the crowd is who comes to Freq. For us this is what makes the nights as special as they are, with this becoming more clear as the community grows. This is why we aim to make each event a fresh experience and are always looking to introduce new elements to the party that you may not find elsewhere.”

Founded in 2019 and kicking off as a street party initially, Freq focuses on pushing underground artists in an intimate setting and refuses to be bound by genre.

Reflected in this refusal is the party’s decision to get Ethel on board: she spans across selections of house, breakbeat, electro and 90s acid cuts.
