EXIT Festival unveils new home in Montenegro as part of 2026 World Tour

EXIT Festival has shared details of its "new home" in Montenegro for 2026 following the festival's departure from Serbia.

The festival held its final edition in its former home at the Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad last July, 25 years after its first edition in 2000.

EXIT's organisers cited "unprecedented government pressure" behind the decision to leave ahead of the 70,000-capacity event as a result of its public backing of student protests against President Aleksandar Vučić and his government.

In an update shared last week (April 30), EXIT confirmed that this year's edition will take the form of an EXIT World Tour, with a "new home" on Long Beach in Ulcinj, Montenegro.

Dubbed the "EXIT to Montenegro" project, the move will not only see EXIT descend onto the Adriatic coastline, but also see the return of its Montenegrin offshoot Sea Dance Festival, which was held at Jaz Beach, Budva, between 2014 and 2017.

"Montenegro is one of Europe's best-kept secrets. With its stunning nature and vibrant Adriatic coastline, it has everything it takes to become a landmark destination for a new generation of travellers who live for combining world-class holidays with unforgettable live music experiences," says Dušan Kovačević, CEO and Founder of EXIT Festival group.

"EXIT was built on the belief that music and freedom go hand in hand, and we are delighted to bring this spirit to this beautiful country, building a lasting legacy together."

In a statement, Montenegro's Prime Minister Milojko Spajić backed the move: "The EXIT to Montenegro project will bring two major festivals to our country, making Montenegro an epicentre of the global music scene this summer and delivering exceptional international promotion for our coastline.

"The festivals will welcome visitors from more than 100 countries, generating at least 210,000 overnight stays and over €40 million in tourism revenue in 2026."

The EXIT World Tour will also feature the "first multi-day, multi-stage festival at the Great Pyramids of Giza," alongside collaborations with Croatia's Sea Star Festival and Malta's Spiral Festival. Dates, line-ups and other details for EXIT Festival 2026 in Montenegro will be confirmed at a later date.
