Three years ago today, Chicago’s juke and footwork community lost a hero. DJ Rashad shaped both genres as we know them and his death shocked the music community.
In celebration of his life and music, J Cush used his Rinse FM show on Tuesday to pay tribute to the late, great originator.
Rashad was part of the renowned Teklife crew. In the UK, he was firmly affiliated with Hyperdub, the label responsible for pushing the footwork sound on this side of the pond.
Over two hours, J Cush moves through unreleased Rashad tracks and classics like ‘Let It Go’ at breakneck speed. Expect two hours of poignant, pounding bass in memory of a musician like no other.
