Game Of Thrones' hotly-anticipated Season 7 premiere aired in the US last night, featuring a cameo from Ed Sheeran.
News of the cameo was first announced in March at SXSW festival by showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who revealed they tapped up the recent Glastonbury headliner as a surprise for Arya Stark actor Maisie Williams who is a big Sheeran fan.
He played the role of a Lannister soldier in the episode, singing a song that Arya Stark approves of. “That’s a pretty song,” she tells him, coming across the troops in a forest.
Yesterday was a busy night for artists making TV cameos, with Moby also appearing in Twin Peaks, following appearances from Hudson Mohawke and Sky Ferreira last week.
Sheeran’s GOT guest appearance has received mixed reviews from across the internet. His fans are pleased, but others have criticised the decision to feature the pop star. Naturally, jokes and memes relating to the cameo have also been flowing.
